Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  • Determine the degree of static indeterminacy of a structure.
  • Analyze statically indeterminate beams using the elastic curve equation.
  • Analyze statically indeterminate trusses using the force method.
  • Analyze statically indeterminate beams and frames using the force method.
  • Analyze statically indeterminate beams and frames using displacement-based methods (slope–deflection method and moment distribution (Cross) method).
  • Compute influence lines for statically indeterminate structures.
