The Dean has the following responsibilities:
- heads the Department and supervises its smooth operation,
- participates in the Senate and the Dean's Council representing the Department and makes recommendations to the competent bodies of the Higher Education Institution (AEI) on issues related to its needs and operation,
- convenes the Department Assembly, chairs its proceedings, draws up the agenda, appoints a rapporteur for the Assembly's issues if he/she does not propose the issues himself/herself, and ensures that its decisions are implemented,
- informs the Assembly of the decisions of the Senate and the Dean's Council concerning the Department, as well as the general operation of the AEI,
- monitors the educational operation of the first-cycle study programs provided by the Department,
- issues acts of integration of members of the Teaching and Research Staff (TRS) into part-time employment, following a decision by the Assembly,
- grants leave to members of the Department's Teaching and Research Staff, for which the Chair is responsible, following a decision by the Department Assembly,
- approves the transfer of members of the Teaching and Research Staff, if the transfer is carried out for the needs of the Department,
- forwards the opinions, proposals, or recommendations of the Department Assembly to the competent bodies of the Higher Education Institution,
- oversees the maintenance of the Department's scientific publications register,
- drafts and approves the Department's annual report, which it submits for approval to the Department Assembly and forwards to the Dean's Office, the Senate, and the University's Administrative Council,

exercises any other powers specified in the internal regulations of the University.

The Deputy Dean performs the duties of the Dean if the Dean is absent or temporarily unable to perform his/her duties.
