Honorable Mentions – Awards of Excellence

The Department of Civil Engineering has been operating the institution of Honorable Mentions and Excellence Awards since the 2025-2026 academic year. The institution applies to students who are admitted to the Department from the academic year 2025-2026 onwards and aims to encourage students to become more actively involved in the learning process and to complete their studies on time. 

Honorable Mention

It is awarded to one student from each year of study, from the 1st to the 4th, when the following conditions are met:

  • They do not already hold another degree from a university, technical college, or higher education institution.

  • For the first year, they have successfully completed all the courses required by the first-year curriculum, up to and including the September resit exams. For the xth year, where 2≤x≤4, they have successfully completed all the courses required by the curriculum from the 1st to the xth year, up to and including the September resit exams.

  • In the courses he has completed, he has an average grade of "Excellent," which is greater than or equal to 8.5.

If there is more than one student in a given year, the Honorable Mention is awarded to the student with the highest grade point average. 

Award of Excellence

It is awarded upon completion of each cycle of studies to three (3) graduates, when the following conditions are met:

  • They do not already hold another university or technical college degree, or a degree from a higher education institution.

  • They have successfully completed all the courses required by the curriculum up to the September resit exams.

  • They have a degree grade of "Excellent", i.e. greater than or equal to 8.5.

The awards are presented during the graduation ceremony and are accompanied by a letter of recommendation from the Department Chair. In addition, the graduate with the highest distinction is awarded a scholarship covering the full tuition fees for one of the Department's Master's Programs.
