Diploma Thesis Assignment Requirements

The Diploma Thesis – analytical, synthetic, research-based – is undertaken by students in any subject of the courses they have taken, in order to deepen their understanding of the scientific field they have chosen.

The topics of the Diploma Theses are determined under the responsibility of the instructors.

The topics of the Diploma Theses cover the broader field of Civil Engineering science, including both theoretical and computational/numerical, as well as experimental areas of interest.

Learning Outcomes
 

With the Diploma Thesis, the student engages with an application or research topic, learning to analyze and synthesize information, exploring a specialized subject within the field of Civil Engineering.

Upon successful completion of the Diploma Thesis, the student will be able to:

1. He collects relevant literature that will be used in the initial stage of analyzing a topic he has been assigned.

2. It utilizes elements from the literature that can include data from experiments or field measurements, and/or numerical data from similar works.

3. It applies laboratory or field measurement methods, and/or develops or applies relevant software for analyzing a specific topic.

4. It evaluates results theoretically/analytically, and/or computationally/numerically, and/or experimentally (in the laboratory or in the field) that have emerged within the framework of the analysis of a specific topic.

5. He synthesizes results and formulates conclusions on a specific topic assigned to him.

6. He writes a complete text that includes the entire study (introduction, analysis presentation, results, conclusions) on the topic he has been assigned.

7. He organizes the presentation of his work to an audience relevant to the subject matter he has been assigned.

8. It delves into more specific topics within the field of Civil Engineering.
