Profile of the Department's Graduate

Graduates of the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Peloponnese have successfully completed the Department's Undergraduate Program, lasting 10 (10) academic semesters, approved by the Joint Ministerial Decision No. 30724/Z1 of the Deputy Ministers of Education and Religious Affairs and Finance, ΦΕΚ  1052/B/27-3-2020
The above Program
- follows modern and international standards of study,
- is fully harmonized with the corresponding Undergraduate Programs of Greek and international university Departments,
- provides high-level theoretical and laboratory training in civil engineering subjects
- covers all the basic and contemporary knowledge of civil engineering science with high quality and comprehensiveness and offers the possibility of partial specialisation,
- specialises in the field of Civil Engineering so that it responds both to the contemporary needs of the labour market and Greek society, as well as to developments in research, technology and, in general, the science of Civil Engineering and related constructions,
- provides all the necessary learning background for continuing studies until the acquisition of a doctoral degree, which can be awarded by the Department.

The program was developed based on the undergraduate program standards recommended by international organizations, while taking into account the guidelines of the Ε.Θ.Α.Α.Ε. for the certification of undergraduate programs that award a single, unified MSc postgraduate degree.
The program was designed to meet the basic criteria for the recognition of professional rights of graduates set by the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs in accordance with Article 66 of Law 4610/2019.
The main objective is to provide students with a thorough education in civil engineering and to enable them, after graduation, to enter the workforce with the knowledge and skills necessary to practice their profession and take over the responsibilities that come with it.
The above demonstrates that graduates of the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of the Peloponnese are familiar with scientific methodology and have the ability to apply their knowledge of civil engineering thoroughly, having developed technical skills and skills that enable them to work professionally, successfully utilizing all relevant technologies in all areas of application.

Specifically, graduates of the department, whether self-employed or employed as executives in businesses or public organizations (public corporations, ministries, banks, local government) or the private sector (technical, contracting, design, construction companies or industry), have the opportunity to:
- study, organize, and supervise new building projects (residential and special buildings) as well as restoration projects for existing structures,
- study, organize, and supervise hydraulic projects, including water supply, sewerage, wastewater treatment, irrigation, dams, coastal and port facilities, etc.,
- studying, organizing, and supervising transportation projects, road construction projects, road and pavement design, bridges, and tunnels,
- studying the configuration of outdoor spaces,
- study and supervision of geotechnical interventions including trenches, embankments, slopes, retaining walls, etc.
- study of environmental impacts from technical projects,
- preparation of economic and technical studies related to the respective technical works and constructions.
- cost estimation and submission of technical bids for various technical works,
- design and implementation of appropriate provisions to ensure the safety of the works.
- developing, implementing, and/or certifying material and construction control procedures

Finally, graduates of the Department can fully meet the needs of keeping up with developments in research and innovations in technology and lifelong learning. Consequently, they can further expand and specialise their field of knowledge by pursuing postgraduate studies to obtain postgraduate academic degrees (M.Sc., Ph.D.) that can be awarded by the Department.
