Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  • Apply the basic principles of construction with load-bearing masonry.
  • Conduct checks on compression, shear, and bending of unreinforced and reinforced masonry according to Eurocode 6.
  • Design a load-bearing masonry structure against seismic loads according to Eurocode 8 – Part 1.
  • Apply the principles of fire resistance for masonry buildings.
  • Design and analyse simple masonry structures according to Eurocodes 6 and 8.
  • Perform assessment, repair, and strengthening of an existing load-bearing masonry structure in accordance with Eurocode 8 – Part 1 and the Regulation for Assessment and Structural Interventions of Masonry (KADET).
