Evangelos Marinakis was born in Athens in 1969. He holds a degree in Mathematics (1992), a Master’s Degree in Applied Mathematics (1996) and a PhD (2001) supervised by Professor Anastasios Bountis, from the Department of Mathematics, University of Patras.

After receiving his PhD, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher (2002-04), with a Marie Curie fellowship of the European Union, and as a research associate (2004-05), in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, University of Cambridge, where he collaborated with Professor Athanasios Fokas. Later (2006-13), he worked as a Research Associate (at the rank of Assistant Professor) at the Techonological and Educational Institute (TEI) of Patras. In 2015 he was appointed as an Associate Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering of the TEI of Western Greece, while in 2019 he joined the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Peloponnese. At the same time, since 2015, he has worked for a total of seven years as a member of Collaborating Teaching Staff at the Hellenic Open University.

He has participated in various national and international scientific conferences and is the author or co-author of 19 articles in international scientific journals and international conference proceedings, with more than 300 references.

His research interests are (1) in the integrability and in the finding of special solutions of nonlinear Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations and (2) in Computed Tomography, Positron Emission Tomography and Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography.
