Faculty Assembly

 

The Department Assembly consists of: a) the Department Chair, b) the Department Vice-Chair, c) all members of the Department's Teaching and Research Staff (TRS), d) one (1) representative of the Special Technical Laboratory Staff (E.T.E.P.) of the Department, and e) one representative of the students per cycle of studies (not yet appointed).

The Department Assembly has the following responsibilities:

a) it sets the general educational and research policy of the Department and its development path within the framework of the policy of the School and the Institution,

b) it submits the Department's development plan to the Dean's Office

c) drafts the Department's Internal Regulations and submits them for approval to the Senate of the Higher Education Institution (HEI),

d) compiles the Department's register of academic subjects,

e) compiles the register of internal and external electors for the election and promotion of members of the Teaching and Research Staff ,

f) provides an opinion on the establishment, merger, division, renaming, change of scientific field, or abolition of Departments of the Department,

g) drafts and submits for approval to the Dean's Office the annual recruitment plan for members of the Teaching and Research Staff (Δ.Ε.Π.) in accordance with the educational and research needs of the Department and ranks the subjects to be announced in descending order of priority,

h) drafts and submits for approval to the Dean's Office the annual recruitment plan for Special Teaching Staff (EEP), Laboratory Teaching Staff (E.D.I.P.), and Special Technical Laboratory Staff (E.T.E.P.) in accordance with the needs of the Department,

i) recommends changes to the academic subject area of a member of the teaching staff, following consultation with the General Assembly of the Department to which they belong,

j) recommends to the Senate the establishment of university laboratories, clinics, and museums to be located in the Department or in Divisions of the Department,

k) assigns teaching duties to faculty members, adjunct faculty members, special teaching staff, and special laboratory staff of the Department, as well as additional teaching and research staff for the Department's first and second cycle programs,

(l) recommends to the Senate the members of the curriculum committees and appoints a person responsible for each first-cycle program, if the Department organizes more than one program,

(m) recommends the establishment, modification, or abolition of first, second, and third cycle study programs of the Department, as well as foreign language study programs;

(n) prepares the guide for each first-cycle program and the internal regulations for second- and third-cycle programs, and submits them to the Senate of the Higher Education Institution for approval,

(o) approves the list of textbooks distributed for each educational activity of the study program,

(p) recommends to the Senate the appointment of the Director of the Department or university laboratory when there are no candidates,

(q) awards the degrees of the study programs organized by the Department,

(r) recommends to the Senate the award of the title of Honorary and Honorary Professor and Honorary Doctor,

s) approves the inclusion of faculty members in part-time employment and the granting of scientific leave, unpaid leave, and parallel employment at foreign universities,

t) provides an opinion to the Senate on the transfer of faculty members, special teaching staff, special laboratory teaching staff, and special technical staff to and from another department of the same or another university,

u) recommends to the Quality Assurance Committee the formation of teams for the internal evaluation of the Department, the individual academic units operating within it, and its study programs,

(v) makes recommendations to the Dean's Office regarding the Department's needs for additional teaching staff.

(w) invites and selects visiting professors,

(x) announces the positions of appointed teaching staff and sets up committees for their evaluation,

(y) assigns postgraduate students to carry out auxiliary teaching work in first-cycle study programs and doctoral candidates to carry out auxiliary teaching work in first- and second-cycle study programs of the Department,

(z) awards scholarships for excellence and reciprocal scholarships to students enrolled in the Department's study programs;

(z1) seeks all kinds of funding, donations, financial support, and sponsorships to support the educational, research, and general activities of the Department and to upgrade its infrastructure,

(z2) makes recommendations to the Dean's Office regarding the needs of the Department and the smooth and orderly conduct of the educational and research work of the Department and its individual academic units, as well as for the execution of projects and studies for the maintenance or upgrading of the infrastructure and equipment allocated to the Department,

z3) establishes committees for the study or handling of specific issues falling within its remit,

z4) grants permission for teaching, research, laboratory or clinical work and scientific work in general to be carried out by members of the teaching staff, ΕΕΠ, ΕΔΙΠ, or ΕΤΕΠ members of the Department in more than one Section of the same Department, upon their request and after consulting with the Section or Department where the work is to be carried out,

z5) decides on the distribution of staff serving in the Department or in the Sections of the Department,

z6) approves the transfer of a member of staff from one Section to another of the same Department, upon request of the person concerned and after consultation with the Sections,

(z7) exercises all powers relating to matters concerning the members of the Department's ΕΕΠ, ΕΔΙΠ, and ΕΤΕΠ, unless such powers are specifically assigned to another body of the ΑΕΙ by virtue of a special provision; and

(z8) exercises any other competence provided for in the internal regulations of the AEI.
